Been going through your posts and while i find them interesting and informative i just wonder.....don't you have any positive thing to say about Kenya?? All i ever see is negativity..about the way everyone is screwing up and screwing the people. Come on...you wanna tell me there's no positive news coming from Kenya? You want to tell me there's nothing the government is doing or has done right for the last 5 years??
Am not trying to be an apologist or anything but I think its very important to highlight and extol the positives as much as the negatives because this blog is read all over the world by tourists, investors, students, researchers etc and if it constantly highlights the negatives it perpetuates the philosophy set by CNN, BBC et al that nothing positive ever comes from Africa. That Africans cannot get their act together and work to uplift their communities and countries, that only the white man can save us from our greed and corruption. And its bad enough when CNN emulates that policy, its worse when an African does it, because it comes across like you don't believe in your people, community, country and continent.

One'd think somebody would prerequisite/ press for airport sustainability/capacity before going and proliferating, as it reads. Hopefully, it doesn't mean it will take "too much" pressure before some catch-up comes into form.
Scary? No... but there is congestion & delays at the port & airport.
Current capacity for 2.5mn (KQ carries 2.5mn passengers) but JKIA has 4mn passengers.
They built one parking apron. No new terminal, no expansion, no 2nd runway.
I have seen tender offers BUT ultimately, it boils down to corruption. If properly done, JKIA could take business from Jo'burg & Addis Ababa. Maybe even compete against Dubai.

May I rant poetic for a moment? (Apologize in advance for such a long post.)
I truly believe we all Rant, Rave & Review about Kenya & Africa--even in seemingly hostile terms--because we love them. May sounds strange but that how I feel. I wouldn't be here (blogosphere), and keep coming back, if I didn't care.
For me, seeing Kenya/Africa is like watching loved ones sink deeper&deeper into abuse, and no matter how I try I cannot prevent it. I can console, cajole, malign, and forgive, but the problem remains, and gets worse no matter what I do.
There are moments when my dear ones are coherent and know what bad things they're doing to themselves; but more often they continue behavior that's destructive. Destructive to all of us.
The horror in this situation is that these dear ones control the (political) power, and use it to prevent what is right for them and the rest of us.
Blogs & other media are the only place for us, the family of the abusers, can come to vent and commiserate. In truth, what we do is just talk-talk-talk because...Sadly, the people who most need to hear and heed are our advice are the abusers we have come to complain about. And we know they're not listening. Worse, they take a "let them eat cake" attitude when we complain.
But I truly hope and believe that a movement will grow, it'll (force?) the abusers to move out, and provide us with healthy members...THEN we can spend our writings applauding all the good works they do!
When I open my Itunes and sync my iPhone the only tabs are Summary, info, Ringtones, Music, Photos, Podcasts, Videos. Other people have '' Others'' or ''Applications'' How come?
